Our Delegation and Home Heating Oil Assistance

Late last month, the House voted on HB 1653, a bill that would help New Hampshire citizens afford heating oil.

There was zero impact on the taxpayer, as the funds were transferred from other parts of the budget in order to get matching grants from the Federal Government. The bill was co-sponsored by both parties' leaders and passed by a wide margin: 321 to 12.

Of those 12, two came from Merrimack. I can think of no clearer reason why Merrimack needs new representation in Concord than the thousands of families who will not be able to afford rising heating costs this winter and now will have help that would not be coming if the rest of the state was more like the reps we have here in Merrimack.
