"Democrat Or Republican?"

I often get asked by voters, "Are you a Democrat or a Republican?"

Despite Merrimack's history as a Republican stronghold, I always proudly answer that I am a Democrat, and I get just as many, if not more people who respond positively to my answer than who do not.

As for the people that don't, especially the ones who are rude, I generally just smile back knowing that if I'm elected, I will still serve them as an elected official regardless of what they said before and on that day they'll grow out of their preconceptions fed to them by the agents of divisiveness and we'll one step closer to the healing that we need as a country after the past decade of politics in this nation.
