One On One State Rep Races

A woman in town a year or so ago asked me why there aren't eight polling places or at least eight district since we have eight state reps.

I told her that i'd love to see that happen if only to make it somewhat simpler in regards to who the candidates are running against, but it wouldn't be feasible since the places that could serve as polling places besides the ones that already do are not evenly distributed geographically and those eight districts would be very gerrymandered.

Currently we have three polling places, but all State Reps and local offices are elected at large since the new polling places are a fairly recent phenomenon.

Another person said they should be split up alphabetically, voters from A to C get two candidates, D through say, G get two candidates, and so on.

Once again, that would be interesting and would help end the free-for-all mentality, but it would be incredibly confusing for poll workers to get the right ballot for each person and it would cost the state more to print them.
